Free-falling from a tall structure while connected with a large elastic cord and seeing the ground getting closer and closer, that’s what bungee jumping is all about. The whole body gets filled with adrenaline and the experience is unique. Obviously not everyone is prepared or wants to try it, but for those who are willing to test their limits we have chosen five of the best places for a thrilling jump.
Bloukrans River Bridge
Known as the world’s highest commercially operated bungee jump (Guinness Book of World Records) and the highest single span arch bridge in the world, the Bloukrans River Bridge is close to Nature’s Valley, Western Cape, some 40 kilometres east of Plettenberg Bay in South Africa. The jump takes place from a platform below the roadway of the bridge, and the height to the valley floor is 216 metres (710 ft). Scared?
“007 Goldeneye” Bungee Jump, Ticino, Switzerland
Fighting for the highest bungee jump in the world, the Verzasca dam - a 220 metres high arch hydroelectric dam located in the Ticino Valley in Switzerland, is famous for the scene in Goldeneye when James Bond did a breathtaking bungee jump. Remember it?
If you love the stunning Swiss scenery with the Alps on one side, a lake on the other and the azzure river at the bottom, or if you enjoy pure freefall swinging bungee, this is the place to be. You’ll have a great story for your friends, on the next James Bond movie.
Victoria Falls Bridge, Zimbabwe

Victoria Falls doesn’t need any more presentation because it’s the largest waterfall in the world, but did you know it’s also a great place for bungee jumping? The Victoria Falls Bridge is where everything happens. Located in southern Africa in the “no mans land”, between Zambia and Zimbabwe, some call it the best bungee jump in the world, with a 111 metres plummet towards the Zambezi River. Those who operate it, will take you pictures and will also record a video of your jump if you want to buy it later on.
Don’t forget your passport if you want to test it, because you’ll be given a “Gate Pass” at the borders.
Bhote Khosi Bungee, Kathmandu, Nepal
Famous for white water rafting and canyoning, the Bhote Khosi River is located in the heart of the Himalayas just three hours from the capital of Nepal. The country’s steepest river, flowing from Tibet through to India, is a great destination for trekkers and adventurers, but also for bungee jumpers. There’s a specially designed suspension bridge that offers a spectacular view of the surrounding jungle and the rushing rapids below, so if you lose interest or you don’t have the guts to take on a truly thrilling bungee experience, your eyes will surely enjoy.
Great Canadian Bungee
Not only the highest bungee jump in Canada but also one of the world’s most spectacular places in the world where you literally jump of a cliff, the Great Canadian Bungee is just 20 minutes away from downtown Ottawa at “The ROCK” (Morrison’s Quarry). Jumping in an amphitheater of solid limestone and facing the deep aqua-blue, spring-fed lagoon makes the jump less scarier, but if you’re still not convinced you should jump, pay them a visit for a barbecue, the beach or to play volleyball. It could be the best bungee jump of your life. Hit the water for us if you go there.
Jumped or just visited any of these places, then why not tell us everything about your experience?
