HotelClub’s 2008 advertising campaign has launched! Using the tag-line of ‘We’re very competitive in beds’ a series of offline advertisements will be rolled out in key markets of Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South-East Asia, UK, China and Taiwan.
This year we are using in-flight TV to showcase our adverts. We have created a 45second advert that centres on a couple (being competitive in bed) by having a pillow fight to the track of ‘Kung-Fu fighting’. Our adverts will be shown on Virgin Blue, Pacific Blue, China Air, Japan Airlines, Cathay Pacific and Thai Airways to name just a few!

Using Virgin Blue as an example, the HotelClub.com advertisement will be shown from March through to December 2008 on all routes within Australia and New Zealand. Each month a new ‘promotional tag’ will appear at the end of the advertisement. March sees Fiji as the promoted destination, with April launching the HotelClub Awards survey.
Additionally, through Virgin Blue’s Flight Trakker, HotelClub.com will feature on 3 consecutive screens with a static version of the advertisement.
In January, UK was the first to use the new Advertising message through outdoor sites in tube stations and print media! We’ve attached a sample from one of the tube stations in London that featured the ad:
All these offline adverts are complemented by online advertising, membership campaigns, and public relations. A truly integrated brand campaign!

The pillow fight idea is not all that original. I think stay247.com are already using it.
What do I think ?
After quite a bit of thought I have decided
It is Juvenile and dumb
Would it encourage me to want to stay at any of those places?
No!
I want to go to those places to rest, relax , have fun and get away from the hi jinks of teenage nonsense.
Yeah, okay. Hope you didnt pay your agency much for that.
I agree with the comments so far, its cheap, stupid, and does nothing for the Hotelclub name.
Hmmm, it’s cheap, nasty and disjointed. I hate it and makes me want to look at another web site that will sell me a hotel as an adult, not some kid who will mess up a hotel room. Get rid of it!
Why do people use Hotelclub.net? Three reasons: a) to save money (the most important for me), b) great choice of hotels and c) ease of booking.
These absolutely silly/stupid advertisements do nothing but irritate me. Fire the advertising company and new a new one that will bank of the three principals above. After all, what makes a woman stop in her tracks as the word SALE????
I don’t think it’s that bad ..ok ..it’s not amazing .. but it’s ok. I mean you can do better than that tho. much much better:-)
Contrary to the other comments, I applaud the adverts.
An advertisement is designed to quickly gain attention, leave an impression (hopefully lasting) in the mind of the reader/listener, and alert the reader/listener to seek out and (hopefully) buy the product.
The only criticism I’d have is that the Kung Fu advert is too long on the Kung Fu, and too short on the ‘deals’ part.
Cheers, team Hotel Club.
What an excellent blog, I’ve added your feed to my RSS reader.
