Beautiful Sun City in South Africa

Sun CityThere are many fabulous resorts around the world that usher tourists towards themselves with a certain magnetism, but one resort that definitely stands out as a very special destination for its visitors, offering luxury coupled with an up, close and personal experience of the nature and culture of the land is probably unique to South Africa. Sun City in South Africa is one destination that offers this and much more. Located at a convenient drive of about two hours from Johannesburg and adjoining the Pilanesberg National Park, the resort is spread across the bushveld in the North West Province of the country, has something to take everyone’s fancy and then some more surprises and thrills to provide the ultimate experience.

Palace HotelTo start off the Sun City experience, you can book in to any one of the four world renowned hotels; Palace of the Lost City Sun City, Sun City Hotel, The Cascades Hotel Sun City, or Cabanas Hotel Sun City, each with its own distinct taste and style. Luxury and the famous African hospitality come standard with all the packages. The restaurants serve delectable cuisine and the hotels also feature relaxing bars and lounges for the guests.

SafariThere are wild life safaris for game viewers in the adjoining Pilanesberg National Park, which is also a malaria free zone. The park has the honour of being the abode of the big 5, meaning that you can always come face to face with a mighty lion or a giant elephant, hiding behind the next bush.

An African safari is not the only thing you can do here. The resort has two 18-hole golf courses with completely different dynamics and a promise to provide enough challenge and fun for golfers of all abilities. The Gary Player Country Club is a world renowned course and hosts the Nedbank golf challenge, while the Lost City golf course is a desert-style course with a water hazard you would preferably like to avoid on the 13th, as it has 20 live Nile crocodiles waiting to snatch any stray balls.

Wave PoolThe Valley of Waves is a central attraction at the Lost City, attracting not only the visitors enjoying a stay at one of the great hotels in the resort, but also day visitors. The water park features on of the most advanced, 6500 square meter wave pool in the world that generates waves as high as 6 feet and 8 inches every 90 second. Also, there are five water rides, each with a very different and distinct taste.

You can also indulge in various other water sports like wind surfing, parasail, canoe or water skiing in the Suncity Lake. For those wishing to simply relax on the water cruises are also available. Other sports facilities like tennis, squash, mountain biking, horse riding and swimming are also available at the resort. Apart from all this, casino and slots are also a part of the whole package, if that takes your fancy, and who would complain about the quad biking, some archery or clay pigeon shooting.

Parents with kids wanting a little time out can certainly find plenty at SunCity, with interesting and engaging activities designed to keep kids, as well as teenagers, busy and happy. The Kemp Kawana Creche, Magic Company Games Arcade and Thula Baba located with in the Entertainment Centre are suitable for children up till 12 and the Club Chirp is a nice and safe environment for teens to mingle with their age mates and make new friends. The club is strictly restricted to under 18’s and is completely alcohol free.

Not only does the resort boast great facilities, but has also been awarded the Gold classification from the Heritage Programme and won the 2007 Overall Imvelo Responsible Tourism Award, an initiative taken by the South African hospitality industry for the better preservation of nature and promoting responsible tourism.

SuncityThe Sun City resort would probably be the best answer to anyone’s wish of an all inclusive resort, with a breathtaking diversity offered to its visitors, coupled with all the essentials for either a romantic getaway or a memorable family vacation in the heart of Africa. Now what more can you ask for???

I’m South African and I’ve been to Sun City. It really is a Marvel.
But….
I think that the best place in South Africa has to be Cape Town!

There is so much to see and do, and the people in Cape Town are fantastic!

Cape Town things to see and do.
