Despite the constant turmoil in the Middle-East, Jordan is definitely the safest, most stable country in the region. It’s a beautiful country just waiting for travelers to come and discover its treasures.

Petra

The only thing most people know about Jordan is that it’s the place where the ancient city of Petra is located. Undoubtedly the most popular tourist destination in Jordan, Petra is also one of the most fascinating ruined sites in the world, along with Machu Picchu and the ruins of Angkor Wat, in Cambodia. Carved into rock, Petra is a legacy of the old Nabataean civilization and offers perhaps the most spectacular sights in all the Middle-East. If you’ve been to Jordan and haven’t stopped to visit the ruins of Petra, then you haven’t truly been to Jordan.

Aqaba Beach

But there are also many other things to check out in Jordan, if exploring ruins is not among your favorite activities. Aqaba, the centre of Jordanian beach tourism, is perfect if you’re looking to soak up the sun and swim in crystal clear waters. It’s also the perfect place to check out the flawless coral seabed that the Red Sea is famed for. If you’re not a fan of diving or snorkeling you can still witness the beauty of the corals from aboard a glass-bottomed boat. Aqaba offers great accommodation in old-style hotels where tourists get pampered the Arabian way.

The Dead Sea

The Dead Sea is also a must visit location on the Jordan travel map. Situated just 55 km southeast of Amman, the Dead Sea may be devoid of any life, due to its extremely high salt levels, but that doesn’t make it any less interesting. It is the lowest body of water and also the lowest point on earth, 395 meters below sea level. Because its waters contain over 35 different kinds of minerals, perfect for keeping the human skin healthy, the Dead Sea is a popular therapeutic destination. Arthritis, rheumatism and even respiratory diseases are treated using mud and saltwater from the Dead Sea. It’s also a perfect for people that can’t swim, because the large concentration of salt helps you float without even trying.

Amman

There are many important biblical sites spread around Jordan, like the brook where Jesus Christ was baptized, the citadel where John the Baptist was beheaded by King Herod and the mountain where Moses first saw the Promised Land.

Amman, the capital city of Jordan, is a modern settlement contrasting the largest part of the middle Middle East. It is a flourishing urban centre that offers a large number of superb hotels for travelers as well as some beautiful museums and Roman, Greek and Ottoman sites.
