I'd heard about it earlier from a friend and there was a documentary on TV about the temple near a city called Deshnoke where the deities are the rats. They are allowed to roam about freely and the priests take care of them. Has anyone seen this place?
Been there and I must say it was an experience I can't forget. They feed the rats milk and the worshippers drink the milk afterwards. It felt odd but its their religious belief so I wouldn't say more about it. I just wonder what convinced them!
Ok, well it looks like something I can safely skip since I am not friendly with rodents and certainly can not fathom how they don’t nauseate half the people. I thought rats could be a health hazard, but obviously they don’t think so. I’m wondering if I can get more information on this but I wouldn’t want to read it just after a meal, I’m afraid :|
hunh.... sounds interesting. there is so much going on in this world that we don't really have a clue about. Every day one comes across something that completely baffles you. Guess that's human diversity.
Well it's completely irrelevant to the discussion, but I saw in the news that they have genetically altered a rat so that the cats don't find him very tempting and he runs around and plays around them and they don't bother him at all. Would be a good idea to introduce those rats there, one less thing for the guardians to worry about....
