Sydney has always attracted the world on the new year's eve. The fire works on the Harbor Bridge are a must to mark the arrival of an other year over here.
How big the party is? well judge for yourself. A hotel room with a view of the Harbor Bridge has been auctioned for the NYE for a measly 9999$!!!! wonder who would be in the room enjoying the otherwise free display with that kind of a price tag attached??????

I am sure the party would not be in that room but outside in the open. Why would you pay to watch something that you are going to watch without being in the midst and being a part of the atmosphere???? Can't that be done on your TV??? waste to money.....unless you were going to make the occasion special by marking the end of your freedom or bachelorhood maybe......anything else and it's not worth it!!!

I was in Sydney for NYE 2006. It's one time that you really see the spirit of Sydneysiders. It is really one big party and made my trip worth my while. 10 grand for a room does sound a bit over the top, but I am sure who ever is the lucky one, or two, enjoying the view would never forget the year 2008 for the rest of their lives.....

Well I wouldn't grudge the lucky guy his room because if you got it you do have to spend it somewhere :P must be a challenge. Anyhow I spent only one holiday in Australia and it was in Melbourne, this sounds like fun but a bit too far unless my boss pays ;)

I can think of ways to spend the 10k. Assuming its a HE who is spending and is spending for a SHE, then I think a better way would have been giving her a really big and sparkly diamond. I am sure she would have accepted it out in the open as well with much joy.....hehe.
Though the room would not be too bad as well....it is supposed to be in one of the luxury hotels and I am sure the person knew what they were paying for.

Well actually, he didn't. I googled the story and turns out that these auctions are carried out so that the people bidding don;t know which hotel or hotel room they are bidding for, only that it's a luxury hotel. SO technically they didn't know what they were paying for.....sounds like an interesting way of booking a room

The fireworks at the Eifel Tower are spectacular. Lots of partying along the Champs Elysees and the best part for me is the lighting of the tower itself
