Get a New Car, See Europe for Free

Do you pass by the BMW dealership on your daily commute and stare at the showroom in amazement? Do you long to drive that iconic German feat of automotive design? You may be in luck. There is a way to minimize the cost of a new car, get a special bonus in return and cut out the dealership altogether. This is all possible thanks to BMW’s European Delivery program.

With the new program, you can save a hefty amount of money, choose a dream car and pick it up yourself from the flagship delivery center in Munich. From there you hit the road behind the wheel of your shiny new Bimmer and drive around Europe for two weeks. The car is then shipped by BMW as used, thus avoiding the heavy taxes that come with new imported cars. To make sure your car is ready by the time you arrive, get in touch with the company three months prior to your vacation. Most of the vehicles are made to order so it’s helpful to know beforehand when it will be available so you can plan your trip.

There are some limitations to the program of course. The main downside is that you have to wait for a couple of months at a time to get the new car ready. Most of the BMW vehicles are available to U.S. residents if the order is placed through an authorized BMW center. All vehicles are available except for the X5 sport activity vehicle and the Z4 convertible, built in southern California. You can stay in Europe for up to 60 days after you pick up your vehicle. A 16% penalty tax is applied if the car is not exported in the first 6 months.

If you still aren’t convinced about the sweet deal, you can now benefit from the partnership BMW has with Lufthansa and get discounted airfare. For example, buy a round-trip economy class ticket from the continental U.S. to Munich and get a second one for free. They have been doing this for over 40 years, along with nearly all European auto makers. In the seventies it was pretty popular. The USA made BMWs are made in South Carolina, not southern California.

How is this “see Europe for Free” if I still have to pay for my airfare, hotel and food? That is not free. All that you get is a discount on a BMW - far from free.

$50,000 for BMW + $5,000(+) for vacation = Not Free.

The Euro is still super expensive compared to the Dollar.

I suspect all European car makers have similar programs.

    Are you associated with BMW?

FYI, the X5 and Z4 are made in South Carolina not Southern California. Spartanburg, SC.
