Fiji is a country made up of hundreds of islands in the South Pacific Ocean, all of which are part of an archipelago. Nearly 90% of the country’s population can be found on the islands of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. Of the 300 islands and 500 islets forming the Republic of Fiji, only about 100 are inhabited.
With so many islands to choose from, you can imagine what Fiji’s largest tourist draw is: scuba diving, snorkeling, and other water sports. Fiji is graced with several types of coral and home to some of the most beautiful sunsets ever witnessed by the human eye. The myriad islands are mountainous and decorated with tropical forests, with some peaks reaching nearly 1300 meters (4,250 feet) in elevation.
Many travelers dream of making the trip to this small island country whose nearest neighbor is Toga. It is an ideal vacation location for a number of reasons, all of which are evident in the images below. I honestly can’t recall seeing more perfect sunsets…except on posters.
