If you enjoy wine, the Hakone Kowakien Yunessuni is odd Japanese attraction that will surely appeal to you the most. Apart from the usual attractions in Japan, the famous hot springs in Hakone are one of the hottest spas at the moment, offering an unique mixture of recreation and water activities. Hakone Kowakien Yunessuni has everything one would expect to find in a spa, with a touch of Asian eccentricity.

You can enjoy over 25 different kinds of spa related activities, including huge waterfalls and water slides. The main facility, the God’s Aegean Sea, is the most eye-catching attraction, being equipped with various water massaging devices but also a fully illuminated water screen located on the ceiling so you can sit back and relax.
There are also two Mediterranean themed spas: the Turkish Hamam and the Ancient Roman Bath. The first is designed having in mind an Ottoman Turkish Palace, with a dome-shaped ceiling covered in mosaic tiles and display of lights on the walls, while the latter is reminiscent of the Roman bathing experience combining a hot and cold water spa and a mist sauna.
Kids have the Rodeo Mountain, fun water slides that can be used even in the winter, thanks to the water heating systems. Adults have other types of attractions, including a Sake spa, filled real Japanese sake and a wine spa - a unique spa containing real red wine. Japanese believe that sake is very good for the skin, while wine keeps the body rejuvenated. Also, it is commonly known that alcohol is absorbed through the skin so do not be surprised if you’ll be leaving the spa happier than usual.
For those that cannot drink, they can enjoy the other two wacky spas - filled with coffee and green tea. The 2m huge tea pot pours green tea from the Hakone Mountains that is said to fight tumors and boost the immune system. The coffee spa will help you get over stress or fatigue and make the skin more beautiful.
Other odd attractions include a floating bath, a shallow pool for barefoot massages, an aromatic spa, a charcoal spa and a hot spring cave.
