Bu what are the most attractive tourist destinations in Luxor and what else can you do while in the city?

The Luxor Temple is a foremost sightseeing location that conveys with the spirit of opulent cultural heritage of Egypt, located nearby the extremely beautiful reservoir of Nile. Constructed by Pharaoh Ramasses II with 6 figurines of Great Kings (in standing and sitting positions) at the entrance, the temple’s beautiful walls and their various inscriptions suggest that the king took part in a confrontation in opposition to the Hittites.

An incredible work of art, the Luxor Temple also incorporates a church on its western side along with 3 ornate shrines in the courtyard.

Your journey to Luxor would seem incomplete if you do not spare some time to visit the Colossi of Memnon (King of Ethiopia and a hero of the Trojan Ware) and Amenhotep’s memorial temple. They’re extremely popular among foreign vacationers. Also, in Luxor there’s a Mummification Museum. Located on a cornice just north of the Luxor Temple, overlooking the Nile, it’s a must if you want to somehow understand the ancient art of mummification.

The Valley of Kings, also known as “Wadi el Muluk” is ranked among world’s top tourist attractions. For more than 500 years from the 16th to 11th century BC, various tombs have been constructed for Pharaohs and powerful, influential nobles of the new empire.

Eating in Luxor is a vegetarian’s paradise, but meat lovers shouldn’t despair. Meals usually start with a pita-bread and mezze such as baba ganoush or taboule salad, while main courses can include meat or poultry or their famous gibna bayda cheese (some sort of feta).

It is not just the end, rather there is much more to see like the Temples of Karnak, the Museum of Ancient Egyptian Art or the El Mekashkesh Mosque, but you’ll discover them all on your own, because Luxor is a place where you can never get bored.

Luxor was the high point of our tour of Egypt, lots of antiquities to see. A great city.

Just returned last week from Luxor. Great place to visit. Luxor Temple right downtown, Karnak Temple is amazing, especially the night light show. Hot air balloon rides over the Valley of the Kings was really fun. Visiting the tombs there also worth the visit. The people are very friendly to tourists, the food is good, with whatever you want easily available. It will be cool at night and nice in the day so just be casual and bring a jacket for night, or early morning if you take a balloon ride.
