Great place to visit. Luxor Temple right downtown, Karnak Temple is amazing, especially the night light show. Hot air balloon rides over the Valley of the Kings was really fun. Visiting the tombs there also worth the visit. The people are very friendly to tourists, the food is good, with whatever you want easily available. It will be cool at night and nice in the day so just be casual and bring a jacket for night, or early morning if you take a balloon ride. Just returned last week from Luxor. Great place to visit.
