Once known as one of Britain’s biggest industrial cities and the home of one of the most successful football clubs in the world, Manchester is now an important spot on the map for all the shopping lovers both in the United Kingdom, as well in the rest of the European continent. See why this amazing city might be the perfect destination for your Christmas shopping spree.

The shops in Manchester sell almost everything, from haute couture to high street. Manchester’s main shops are concentrated around Piccadilly, the center of the city. Famous brands like Selfridges or Harvey Nichols established their shops here a few years ago and paved the way for dozens other shops. Also, areas like Deansgate, King Street, St. Ann’s Square and the Victorian Barton Arquade are spots famous for the multitude of retail shops.
If the streets packed with shops aren’t enough, right in the heart of the city one can find the Arndale Centre – one of the oldest and largest malls in Manchester. 200 shops on 30 acres receive about 750,000 visitors each year. On your way to Arndale, don’t miss the Market Street – you should find some good offers there or just relax and have a coffee.
Furthermore, if our tips aren’t enough for your shopping frenzy, you can always choose to visit the enormous Trafford Center, one of Europe’s largest malls, having more than 230 stores, 3 miles of covered walkways and a parking lot of 10,000 cars. Trafford Center is outside the city, but a 15 minute drive along the M602 and M60 motorways will take you there.
And since Christmas is coming, don’t miss the seasonal markets, considered to be among the best in UK and Europe. Special and festive gifts can be found in Albert and St. Ann’s Square or on Exchange Street, New Cathedral Street and Brazennose Street. The Winter Wonderland at Spinningfields, on Hardman Boulevard and on Deansgate Street, are an attraction not to be missed. Ice rinks, a North Pole bar, a magical carousel and magical sparkling Christmas trees can be the perfect sight after a long day of shopping.
