The World’s Most Dangerous Road

Between the capital of La Paz, Brazil and the coco capital of Coroico lies one of the most dramatic and deadly roads in the world. In 1932 the Death Road was built by prisoners during the war with Paraguay, and is still the only route that connects Northern Bolivia with the capital. This ridiculously narrow road is heavily traversed by buses, trucks, minivans, taxis, tankers, private vehicles, and mountain bikes.

I rode this some years ago and it brings back great memories. Some pictures are on my blog (search entry under tag “Bolivia”).

I have been on this road before. Most of the road is a single lane with traffic going both ways.

Sounds like fun, as long as you’re in the bigger vehicle
