Adrenaline, romanticism, history, dizzying architecture, world-wide known landmarks – you can find them all in New York, probably one of the most amazing cities man has ever created. But after a long walk on the loud streets of New York, what else could be more relaxing and more serene, than enjoying New York from above? Here are five of the best rooftop bars in the city:

5. The Delancey

While other rooftop bars in the city are famous for their unique view, others for their exquisite cocktails and others for their decorations, Delancey is best known for its simplicity. Having a drink under the palm plants and nearby the small fountains is the perfect way to escape the crowds. Sit back and enjoy the atmosphere – this  roof deck could be the only place where you won’t find uptight customers.

4. Rare View

On the 16th floor of the Shelburne Murray Hill Hotel one can find this wonderful rooftop bar with rope lights draped over the mini-trees, lots of chairs and tables for seating and even beds for the ones that are in the mood for some lounging. The Chrysler buildings and the Empire State building can be sighted from here.

3. Ava Lounge

The 15th floor rooftop overlooking Midtown bar will really heighten your mood. If you ever wondered how the Worldwide Plaza glowing pyramids, Broadway, and Times Square look like from the top, this is the best location to see them all. The DJs enliven the atmosphere from Wednesday nights to Saturdays.

2. The Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Roof Garden

Enjoy a great drink on the top of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, while admiring the modern sculptures or the fascinating view over Central Park. Although the menu is not that rich, besides drinks, one can enjoy here some sandwiches and desserts, as well.

1. Plunge at Hotel Gansevoort

It’s the only place in the city where you can enjoy an astonishing view of midtown. Situated on the 14th floor of the hotel, the bar area is open when the weather is warm and closed by glass when it’s rainy, therefore you can visit Plunge whenever you want. Monday and Tuesday nights are the best for quiet evenings.
