Peaceful Lakeside Retreats for Happy Campers
Routine life is comfortable and settled, we know what to expect and what is expected of us. But, there are times when routines can start to feel stifling, or worse yet, stressful. Deadlines, demands, expectations, schedules, all can cause anxiety, making us wish we could just get away for a weekend to a quiet spot and rejuvenate the will to return to life again. Or, there are those who simply like peaceful vacations without all these complex thoughts!
Picture a placid lake; the wind rippling on its surface inspires feelings of serenity. Lakeside retreats are the perfect combination of beauty and peace, allowing reality to recede long enough to return refreshed and invigorated.
Lake Kawaguchi
The backdrop of this beautiful spot is the Fuji Mountains; Lake Kawaguchi in Japan sits at the base of Mt Fuji and is known for its easy access and clear waters, and even better, hot springs nearby to ensure relaxation for aching muscles and bones. There is access here for fishing, boating and swimming, and for those who even when wanting to get away, still feel the need for something more stimulating, hiking or climbing the peak of Mt Fuji is easily accommodated by many of the resorts along the lake. Soaking in the hot springs is the highlight of these lakeside resorts, indoor or outdoor, many have a view of the mountain, and can even be enjoyed by those not staying overnight, a small fee enables anyone to bathe during daylight hours.
Italy is known for beauty, romance, food…and also Lago di Como, or Lake Como, Italy ’s third largest lake located in Lombardy. The lake itself is shaped like a ‘y’, each branch accessible by a boat service between the three. There are many picturesque villas along the lake, some offering a glimpse into the history of the area while still allowing for an unparalleled view of the water. The smell of rhododendrons and olive groves fill the air, both offering natural beauty as many sail through the water. Kitesurfing and windsurfing are also popular sports on Lake Como , though the idea of a peaceful ride on a ferry cannot be denied, and affords the opportunity for special time to renew a relationship, holding hands and stealing kisses as the sun sets on the water is a temptation many cannot resist.
Even in England, the combination of mountains and water cannot be denied, Lake District, located within Cumbria County in England, does not disappoint. The 34 mile stretch of land includes more than one lake and valley cut out by glaciers, the largest lake in the area is Windermere, which also happens to be the largest lake found in England. This lake not only has a cable ferry to take people across its surface, but also has three operational railway boats that run, with numerous modern boats available for passenger services. Many a writer has traveled to these shores, finding the tranquil water an inspiration to their novels; Beatrix Potter and William Wordsworth are two of the most famous who have penned works in the Lake District.
Each lake is unique, but all three fulfill promises of peace and beauty, the ultimate in stress relief for today’s busy lives.

Haweswater is a beautiful place to visit in the Lake District. There is wild life to witness there as well. Foxes, geese, eagles, red dears and badgers are all there and I love yearly visits with family, it is wonderful for camping.

There are a total of five lakes you’d want to see when in the area near Lake Kawaguchi, the others are Yamanaka, Sai, Shoji and Motosu. Lake Kawaguchi is the easiest to access though and the villages nearby will give you a good view of the Japanese rustic life.
