Off the coast of Malaysia is a cluster of beautiful picturesque islands— the Perhentian Islands. Popular, yet widely undiscovered, only two of them are the tourism and travel focus.

Technically a controlled and protected marine park, all you will find here are clean and pristine beaches, where even fishing or collecting shells and coral is strictly against the law.

It’s best to travel the islands during season, because off-season travel can be dangerous if you are not familiar with rough and choppy sea currents, or if you are not prepared for potentially bad weather. Off-season times usually mean very few people on the islands, but even during the regular travel season the beaches are just as good.

While many tourist islands have shops and restaurants and crowded sands, the Perhentian Islands are an exception. And thanks to the breathtaking natural landscape, this makes these islands worth visiting again and again, if only to experience the pure and untapped serenity of the area.
Definitely a nature lover’s paradise, the clear waters allow for visitors to peer into the depths, watch the wildlife and explore their territory. Or you can get a closer look to the sand and examine the chunks of shell or coral.

For those who are particularly adventurous, you can scuba dive, snorkel or kayak, as these places are being considered world class trips (and some say it’s the primary reason to visit). And that’s because the visibility underwater is pretty deep, so you won’t have to deal with foggy waters or frustrating dirt.
Also there are people who’d love to take on the challenging quest of hiking through the jungle that weaves throughout the islands. It’s a unique trip on its own and involves being well prepared to fend off bugs and protect yourself against dangerous wildlife. Usually if you take the trails, you will probably come across lizards, birds, and insects. However, if you take the unmarked trails, monkeys are likely to be seen.

Of course, with all of the activity going on, you will need to eat somewhere! There are roughly 8 or 9 restaurants scattered across the islands. They provide premium gourmet meals, as well as casual meals. Most food is imported, so it will be a bit pricey, but keep in mind that you shouldn’t miss the seafood in here. It’s fresh and locals claim it to be the best in the world.

Overall, the Perhentian Islands are a unique and stunning place to visit. They offer some of the most untapped and pure beaches around, with small camps and resorts making it a quiet getaway that any nature lover can appreciate! All you have to do is pack your luggage and remember to put your sun screen in.
It’s beach time!
