The beautiful island of Puerto Rico is a Caribbean haven of sunshine, warm sandy beaches, and captivating fun that the whole family can enjoy. Puerto Rico offers the best in water sports, relaxation, dining, hotel accommodations, and other activities that mean never a boring moment. It is a paradise retreat where the people are friendly and the weather warm and enticing.

Puerto Rico has an abundance of activities for those who want adventure in their getaway. Horseback riding is extremely popular, as well as the breeding and showing of Paso Fino horses, a breed with a loving and gentle disposition. For horseback riding, one can ride some of the most scenic and amazing parts of Puerto Rico, from the rain forest, to high in the mountains through a working coffee plantation or along the sandy beaches. There are many ranches which rent horses by the hour after a short riding lesson.

For those who enjoy water sports, Puerto Rico has it all. There is fishing, snorkeling, scuba diving, sailing or kayaking. It is an adventurer’s dream. With both day trips and private charters offering sport and deep sea fishing, the dedicated fisherman will not go away disappointed. Those who seek out more adrenaline-producing results, who can resist jet skiing and parasailing? As for the underwater adventurers you will definitely enjoy the coral reefs and swimming with a fascinating variety of sea life, including dolphins and manatees.

Puerto Rico is steeped in rich history and one of its most popular cities is that of Old San Juan. Some popular attractions there include the Massive City Wall, a 42 foot high wall of mortar and sandstone. Construction started in the 1630’s and it is still a monumental structure that attracts tourists from around the world. See the splendor of the El Morro castle, six stories high and overlooking San Juan Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, 140 feet above sea level. These are just a couple of the many fabulous attractions of Old San Juan, where old world meets new world in a perfect medley.

For accommodations, Puerto Rico offers five star hotels to cozy guesthouses for every budget and need. Located throughout the island, there will always be the perfect place to stay while enjoying all the island has to offer.

Not to be missed is the wonderful Puerto Rican cuisine. Experience their rice and bean dishes, seafood, and chicken dishes made in a variety of tasty ways. One can enjoy indoor or outdoor dining in a casual or upscale atmosphere.

Each year, all the towns of Puerto Rico have a festival honoring that town’s saint, known as the Patron Saints festivals. The festivals occur at different times of the year and last a week or more with everything from rides and games, live music, and parades to arts and crafts and folklore productions. Some of the more popular carnivals or festivals are the Ponce Carnival in March, the Loiza’s St. James Festival in July, and the Hatillo Mask Festival in December.

Puerto Rico is an absolute vacationer’s dream. The beauty of the island itself is enough to draw visitors to this island every year, and once there, pressures melt away and the fun begins. With all it has to offer, leaving may be the hardest part of the whole trip. With gorgeous coastal beaches, clear blue waters, mountains, and friendly people, it’s no wonder. Puerto Rico is the ultimate in vacation getaways.
