The World’s Deadliest Sea Creatures

There are a lot of activities to keep you laughing and having fun while in the ocean. It’s a safe and harmless place right? Not if you come across one of these deadly animals:

Saltwater Crocodile
Saltwater Crocodiles are extremely deadly, reaching a length of 17 feet and a weight of over 1,000 pounds. Lurking below the water, they wait for their meal and will eat anything. Without warning, they explode from the water, dragging their prey under to their death.

Puffer fish
Puffer fish contain a toxin that is deadly to humans. There is enough toxin in one Puffer fish to kill 30 people and there’s no known antidote. Ironically, these fish are considered a delicacy in Japan despite the fact one bad cut means certain death.

Box Jellyfish
Box Jellyfish are found in the waters around Australia and, like all jellyfish, they are transparent so you won’t see them coming. You have virtually no chance of surviving their poisonous sting, unless treated immediately. Most people don’t die from the sting but from the shock the pain causes.

Blue Ring Octopus
Despite its small size, the Blue Ring Octopus carries enough poison to kill over twenty people within minutes. It is one of the deadliest animals on this list. It will hunt small animals but will bite an attacker, even a human, if provoked or stepped on. The venom causes paralysis and respiratory arrest. There’s no known cure.

Stonefish
The Stonefish lives primarily above the Tropic of Capricorn and hides among rocks. Its dorsal area is lined with thirteen spines that release a venomous toxin that causes severe pain, paralysis, and tissue death. It’s fatal if medical attention is not given in the first few hours.

Great White Shark
The Great White Shark is the top of the ocean food chain. An exceptionally large creature, the Great White is found all over the world. It is one of the deadliest animals in the ocean and will eat anything. Movies like Jaws may have hyped up the threat but cross one of these sharks and it’s the last thing you’ll ever come across.

Sea Snakes
Sea snakes are venomous snakes found in warm waters. They are some of the deadliest snakes in the world and are usual docile unless provoked. The majority of sea snakes are highly venomous. Bites usually go unnoticed. If uncaught, bites can lead to cardiac arrest within twelve hours.

Cone Shell
The Cone Shell can be very attractive and making them tempting to pick up. They have teeth like small harpoons, which can penetrate clothing. If disturbed, they’ll bite and the venom can lead to death. Symptoms of pain, swelling and numbness are common.

Know the waters you are exploring and make sure to listen to divemaster. Never touch anything. Even if it does not contain toxic venom, it is likely very fragile and slow growing. Everything we do has dangers. It is up to us to know them, prepare for them and be good stewards of our environment.

The bull shark is the number one deadly shark so i dont understand how the great white shark is on the list and the bull shark isnt. Jaws was actually inspired by the Bull shark. the piece of info under the great white is also wrong because most attacks result in loss of a limb, not death b.c the shark will not just eat ANYTHING.
