I think this cave is really interesting. I really want to go there. I think it would be fun to see this cave. It seems like an amazing place by the pictures. I can't wait to go there someday.

Just to set the record straight, Floyd Collins never owned Mammoth Cave (much less the first owner who was Valentine Simmons way back in 1797, ninety years before Floyd was even born). He did discover Crystal Cave on his father's property while out trapping one day in early 1917. However, a connection to Mammoth Cave was not found until 1972, forty seven years after Collin's death. Collins did not die in Crystal or Mammoth, but he died while trying to find a connection between the two caves while exploring nearby Sand Cave. At this time, no connection has been found between the cave that he died in and either Mammoth or Crystal. The "huge" rock that kept Floyd trapped until his death actually weighed 26 pounds.

I live about 2 hours away from Mammoth Cave, and I will tell you, these ghost stories are completely bogus, the area is just a fun family outing. I went when I was six or seven and wasn't scared in the least bit. That being said, I recommend everyone who can to go because it is a very interesting and beautiful place.

Ive been to mammoth cave and its quite spectacular. The cave entrance in the fourth picture reminded me of the extreme climate change. At the top of the steps it was a humid 90 something degrees. The temperature drops at least 20 as you descend. As for ghosts, the place seemed kind of creepy, but that may have just been the feeling of tons of rock looming over head.

"there are strange stories told by cave explorers, rangers and even geologists, people that have no reason to lie or brag about their encounters."

I'm sorry, how is it they have les/no reason to lie about shit than every other average joe? Would a cashier at a supermarket have more reason to?
