World’s Oddest Sweets

Even if you’re a fan of sweets, you might think twice before taking a bite of the following sweets. It is said that insects are full of protein and low in cholesterol but that still won’t convince most of us to try them. However, if you’re looking for something different, a scorpion liquorice or cricket dipped in milk chocolate is the way to go.
Chocolate covered crickets
Perfectly bred and fed the cleanest grass, the crickets are roasted and dipped in the finest chocolate. You get one the most exotic sweets – after all, it’s still chocolate, no matter what bugs you have in it.

Insect liquorice
If you don’t like chocolate but still want to see what buggy sweets taste like, you might want to try the scorpion or worm liquorice. There are some flavored lollipops that come with a surprise: worm, a cricket, or a scorpion. One of the best selling liquorice of this kind is the scorpion one, coming in different flavors such as blueberry, banana, apple or strawberry.

Gummy, Strawberry Flavored Bacon
It is not a sweet per se, but it has a strawberry flavor and it’s crazy enough to be included. If you’re tired of the usual bacon, maybe a fruity flavor will make it more enjoyable.

Mutant Coconuts
It might sound funny, but it’s the best translation they could come up with for the Filipino word Macapuno. This is actually the flesh of the coconut that under went a genetic mutation, thus resulting in a fruit with soft, jelly meat and little water.

Edible brains and hearts
If your favorite childhood pastime was playing zombies, reenacting this game was not that simple. When the classic red corn syrup wouldn’t do, you needed something more to scare your friends. So if you want to relive some childhood moments or you simply enjoy zombie movies, here’s something to get you in the mood – edible and sweet brains and hearts.

I saw the Chocolate covered crickets and Insect liquorice on tv before. They don’t look too bad. They said that crickets are actually give you a lot of calcium and protien so it can’t be that bad. Anyways the picture of Edible brains and hearts are scary. Don’t think I wanna try it.
I’ve seen the “liquorice”? candy before. Tequila flavored with the worm in it. Heard of the crickets, that might be interesting to try, Grasshoppers are common also.
I think the oddest is the Gummy Bacon, that just doesn’t sound right!
Years ago, a friend of mine had been to Indonesia or Malaysia (forget which) and brought back pepper (as in black or white or cayenne) sweets. They were kind of boiled sweets, with an intense (you guessed it!) peppery taste. I found them actually quite interesting, others that had been offered them couldn’t spit them out quick enough!
weird ,really weird the edibal heart and brain looks alright
hello, good day to you all fish head is pleased, very pleased
If a larger portion of our population (especially in countries like the US) would change their minds about eating insects as meals & snacks it would make a serious dent in worldwide starvation. It would also drastically increase various countries GDP & the world’s financial markets. Dipping insects in chocolate, jelly-fying them & gaining public curiosity of the idea is a wonderful first step.
These sweets don’t seem too exotic. I mean gummy worms, gummy sharks, the brains doesn’t seem too crazy. I do wanna try the cricket ones!
